Our recent collaboration with the Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Australia was a powerful and atmospheric highlight of the season. The City Recital Hall was buzzing, seats full.

We opened with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, followed by a selection of Russian folk songs superbly arranged for orchestra by Ben Fan.

The choir’s contribution was extraordinary, featuring some of the lowest voices on earth, the octavists, whose sonorous depth added a visceral richness that perfectly complemented the orchestra.

The performance drew high praise, earning a 4.5-star review from Limelight, and underscored the musical and cultural rapport between the choir and Sydney Concert Orchestra.
